- Steffi Friedrichs (AcumenIST (AIST), Belgium) will present the CHIASMA Project at the SOT 64th Annual Meeting and ToxExpo, to be held in Orlando (USA) on the 16. to 20. March 2025. With a presentation entitled ‘Regulatory Research for Safety & Sustainability in the EU – Advancements of international Harmonisation & Standardisation Approaches and NAMs’, Dr Friedrichs will provide an insight into the European Union’s approach to address the growing need for increased sustainability throughout the entire life cycle of products enables by technological innovations in advanced materials (including graphene and nanomaterials) and new chemistries, through the introduction of four projects:
- MACRAMÉ – Advanced Characterisation Methodologies to assess and predict the Health and Environmental Risks of Advanced Materials,
- CHIASMA – Accessible Innovative Methods for the Safety & Sustainability Assessment of Chemicals & Materials,
- INSIGHT – Integrated Models for the Development and Assessment of High Impact Chemicals and Materials
- PINK – Provision of Integrated Computational Approaches for Addressing New Market Goals for the Introduction of Safe-and-Sustainable-by-Design Chemicals and Materials
- Ishita Virmani (Medical University of Innsbruck (MUI), Austria) will present a poster entitled ‘Beyond Toxicity: Fusing Risk, Design, and Life Cycle Principles for Safer Chemicals’.

At the upcoming SETAC Europe 35th Annual Meeting, to be held in Vienna (Austria) on the 11. to 15. May 2025, the CHIASMA Project will be showcased in several presentations:
- Marc Majo (EMPA, Switzerland) will give a presentation entitled ‘In Vitro & In Silico-Derived Effect Factors for USEtox: A Framework for Non-Animal Toxicity Characterization in Life Cycle Assessment’
